In the period from 04-09.12.2018, Mr. Christopher Poole, Regional Manager for Mine awareness program visited the structure of the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the visit was to gain insight into the implementation of program activities, program results, the cooperation between RCSBIH and BH Mine Action Center, as well as planned activities that will cont5ribute to Mine Action Strategy in BiH.
During his visit, a number of meetings have been held across the whole structure of RCSBIH , as well as with the ICRC delegation in BiH, BH Mine Action Center, the BHMAC Regional Office, where Mr. Poole had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Željko Filipović, the head of ICRC delegation in BiH, Mr. Branko Leko, RCSBIH Secretary General, Mr. Saša Obradović, BHMAC Director, Mr. Goran Ždral, Head of the RUBHMAC Pale, mine risk education instructors and mine risk warning instructors. At the meetings Mr. Poole was briefed about the Mine Action Program, work methodology, a cooperation of the Red Cross with relevant institutions, and cooperation with the local community.
Mr. Poole highlighted the high quality of the Mine Risk Warning Program , which has been implemented by the Red Crosses in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the ICRC for many years now. He confirmed the visibility of the existence of a strong structure within the program, good cooperation with partners and, most importantly, the recognition of the Red Cross action at all levels and its recognition by the local community and target groups.
